New Penalties for Trash Mishandling

Last Friday was approved a new regulation which sanctions:
• To throw litter from cars windows.
• To dispose cigarette butts, chewing gums, glass or plastic containers in the streets.
• To leave scraps of pets in the sidewalk.
• To refuse using waterproof bags or containers to dispose waste.
• To burn trash in public areas, gardens, and courtyards.
• To have dirty or neglected the sidewalk in front of a home, business or enterprise.
• To handle garbage in order to select recycling materials without municipality permission.
• To clean up any object that generates accumulation or spreading of waste on the road.
These actions are considered to be paid as minor fines and shall be punished with $ 48, if it is recidivism it will be charged with $240.
To take out garbage before or after the specific trash collecting hour, to dump waste into sewer, to overcrowd trash on public roads are considered serious and are punished with $ 100.08 plus closure of five to ten days in case of retail spaces.
It shall be punished, with imprisonment from two to four years, throwing outdoors toxic and hazardous substances that could threat the health of the population and the environment.
The municipal departments of Justice and Security, Cantonal toilette, and complaints at police stations will control the law.
