New tool to evaluate media content
The new Index of Violation of Rights in the Media (IVDM for its Spanish acronym), which will be used to analyze the content of all media through a numerical formula that measures the presence or absence of 154 indicators, was presented last Wednesday.
These indicators were designed by the Laboratory of Communication and Rights formed by the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPC), the Ombudsman’s Office and the National Institute of Advanced Studies (IAEN). While the index was made by a scientific committee, composed of Chilean Felipe Aliaga and Spanish, Martin Oller and Palmira Chalvero who work at the IAEN.
The objective of the index is to identify “discrimination and violation of rights in the Ecuadorian media, especially as it relates to priority and vulnerable groups.”
