NIKE Terminates Lance Armstrong Contract

Posted On 17 Oct 2012

On August 23, the USADA (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) stripped seven Tour de France titles from Lance Armstrong, leaving the former cyclist banned for life for doping allegations. Today, the renowned brand of athletic shoes, Nike, decided to terminate the contract they had with Armstrong.

“Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner.” Nike spokesman expressed.

Despite the end of the contract by the company, Nike will continue to support the initiatives of the Livestrong foundation, created by the former cyclist with the aim of uniting and empowering people affected by cancer, a disease that he suffered in 1996. (JP)
