No air service for the airport of Latacunga
Posted On 06 Jul 2017
Ecuadornews:
The Latacunga International Airport ran out of cargo and passenger flights. The departure of the Cargolux company, which was the only cargo airline that operated regular flights, left the productive and business sector of the central Sierra of Ecuador without air service. Passenger flights closed with the departure of Tame last year. The authorities and productive sectors of the province of Cotopaxi fear that the Airport will pass again to military instances.
“Apparently there is a monopolistic interest that sees the competition as a threat and looks for mechanisms to prevent airlines from continuing to operate in Latacunga. The State must guarantee the operation of the Latacunga airport because it has a good infrastructure and geographical location,” said Governor of Cotopaxi Jorge Guamán. (I)
