No cases of death of tilapias have been recorded in Ecuador
EcuadorNews:
Following the report issued by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on the alert for a virus that affects tilapia crops, the president of the Chamber of Aquaculture Jose Antonio Camposano conducted a survey to know if there were cases recorded in Ecuador.
In the previous results, Camposano indicated that there are no reports on this issue. “On the contrary, the fish are in optimal health.” However, he will meet with the authorities of the National Fisheries Institute (INP) to review the FAO report.
As one of the most important fish in the world for human consumption, the FAO urges tilapia importing countries to take appropriate measures, including the requirement of health certificates and quarantine, according to the Global Information and Early Warning System (GIEWS) created by the organization, the AFP news agency reported.
