Investors’ favorite candidate, Daniel Noboa, led socialist Luisa González by 10 percentage points in the first poll conducted since both contenders reached the second round of Ecuador’s presidential election.

Noboa, the favorite of investors, leads the correísta candidate in Ecuador.
In an online survey of 6,002 people throughout the country by the Quito-based pollster Comunicaliza, Noboa won with 54.9% of the preferences compared to 45.1% for González. The poll has a margin of error of 1.3%.
The surprise success of Noboa, who is the son of a banana magnate and educated in the United States, sparked a rally in the nation’s bonds after the first round on August 20. González is a close ally of former President Rafael Correa, who lives in exile in Belgium.
The two candidates are scheduled to face each other in a single presidential debate on October 1, before the runoff scheduled for October 15. The early elections were triggered by the dissolution of Congress by President Guillermo Lasso amid a campaign led by González’s party, Revolución Ciudadana, to remove him. The winner will hold the position for the remainder of Lasso’s term, which ends in mid-2025.
