With an investment that exceeds $ 10 million, the American company Century Link opened on Wednesday August 8 the Data Center Carcelén, a complex that will house servers for data storage, among other services.
This data center or data processing center offers companies hosting services, cloud computing, security, collaboration, communication.
The Minister of Foreign Trade, Pablo Campana, said that this data center will allow the creation of 150 sources of direct employment and some 400 sources of indirect work, for which he thanked the multinational for the trust placed in the country.
“The Government is formulating public policies to make the private sectors more competitive. Thank you for trusting in Ecuador, this is a country of opportunities and an investment destination, “said Secretary of State.
The Minister of Telecommunications, Guillermo León, stressed that the government works on the formulation of public policies for the country to develop a knowledge society.
He said that the regime makes efforts to transform a traditional economy into a digital economy for the development of innovation, entrepreneurship and the competitiveness of companies and industries and to achieve this goal requires the support of the private sector.
Gabriel del Campo, vice president of data center and Security for Latin America of the North American company, explained that the infrastructure assembled so far is part of a first stage and that a significant growth is expected in the future.
He pointed out that the new facility will offer customers diversity of fiber routes for the implementation of contingency and data processing environments.
The data center opened this Wednesday is the third in the country and joins another 15 installed in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. (I)
