Obama accuses Russia for not respecting the Geneva agreement
The U.S. President, Barack Obama, during his visit in Tokyo, accused Russia this Thursday (Wednesday night) for not respecting the international Geneva agreement to appease the tension in Ukraine, and threatened with new sanctions.
‘So far, we have not seen respect for the spirit and letter of the Geneva agreement (…) If this situation continues there will be consequences and new sanctions’ against Moscow, he said.
Obama said that ‘malicious armed men’ are taking over buildings in eastern Ukraine and Russia has not intervened to stop such actions by pro Russian activists.
The President made this comments during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, in the first stage of his Asian tour, a journey that threatens to be overshadowed by the confrontation between Ukraine and Russia.
