Obama reaffirms support for gay marriage

Arguing that the principle of equality “should be applied to everyone” and cannot “discriminate same-sex couples or gay marriage,” the U.S. president, Barack Obama, asked the Supreme Court that gay marriage becomes legal in the state of California.
Until now, such unions were legal in nine states and one district (Columbia); while another 5 only allow civil unions.
Although the federal government has not recognized such marriages as a right, Obama is the first U.S. president to publicly support it, based on”My evolution is the same as the entire country has experienced.” In fact, EFE states that the government presented a legal opinion last Thursday, asking to repeal the ban on gay marriage in California.
