Odebrecht appointments were held in suites and restaurants

Megaprojects and emblematic public works were discussed in private suites, restaurants, and public offices. This is evidenced by unsworn versions included in the file opened against Ricardo Rivera, uncle of Vice President Jorge Glas, and eight other persons, for alleged association in the Odebrecht case.
The sets are Odebrecht’s private suite in a hotel in Quito and a restaurant in Guayaquil. In the first place, meetings were held between officials of the Government of Rafael Correa and representatives of Odebrecht.
Prosecutor Diana Salazar, coordinator of the Transparency and Fight against Corruption Unit and investigator of the case, already made the recognition of the suite.
Holger Pazmiño, an official of the Public Water Company (EPA), told the prosecutor that former president of Senagua Carlos Bernal, former Minister of Public Works Walter Solis, and Carlos Villamarín, national technical undersecretary Carlos Villamarin met in a restaurant in Guayaquil. They spoke, he said, “specifically about mega projects.”
Prosecutor Salazar already asked the restaurant for the list of the clients who were there in August 2015. If the information is confirmed, finally the network of corruption during the previous government would be unveiled. (I)
