A “definitive collaboration” and the repair of damages caused to Ecuador -where $ 35.5 million in bribes would have been paid between 2007 and 2016,- was offered by the multinational construction company Odebrecht about 50 days ago to the nation’s Attorney General Galo Chiriboga.
In the document, dated January 21, the Brazilian company committed to delivering to Chiriboga “the same information presented to the Brazilian and North American authorities,” in addition to compensating Ecuador “considering Odebrecht’s ability to pay.”
So far, Ecuador´s Attorney General Office has not disclosed the names of the prosecuted in the investigation that is being developed on the Odebrecht case. This week, Chiriboga said that the list of officials who participated in the bribes would be known until June, the month in which the Brazilian Attorney’s Office set a deadline to release the information of those involved.
“That is the serious thing, we are talking about June, and the change of government will take place in May. And how can you syndicate those who are in the Government?” criticizes Former Vice President Leon Roldos, who stresses: “All who know are involved in the Odebrecht case will have packed their bags and will have fled.”
