The Minister of Production, Foreign Trade and Investment, Pablo Campana, announced that on November 14, Ecuador and the United States will reactivate the Investment and Trade Council.
“It is the starting point for the strengthening of relations with the main commercial partner that is the USA. Remember that in the last 11 years, 39% of exports have gone to this country”, said this October 29 the secretary in an interview in Teleamazonas.
Campana indicated that sensitive aspects will be evaluated and a timetable will be established for the strengthening of relations between both nations. He added that the success for the advances is the opening in the dialogue with businessmen, cameras, guilds, workers.
He also highlighted the work with the US ambassador, Todd Chapman, and the Ecuadorian ambassador Francisco Carrión. “We have lost a lot of time to reach a strengthening of relations, but now we are ready to enter with the US, Japan, South Korea and with the Pacific Alliance, which will definitely bring good results to Ecuador,” the official said.
He also noted that having a dollarized economy in Ecuador is important to attract investment and for this from his State portfolio said that it is refreshing the image of the country and strengthening agreements to attract direct investment. (I)
