One person dies from H1N1 in Tungurahua
Health authorities in Tungurahua reported seven confirmed cases of influenza H1N1, of which one person with the virus died on July 9 at the Hospital of the Social Security Institute un Ambato.
The deceased had come from Latacunga, while the other infected, who are still receiving treatment are from different places of Tungurahua. In addition, there are 23 patients suspected of having the condition, who are awaiting the results of the tests to confirm the infection.
The Ministry of Health announced that it has all the required medicines for the treatment for both adult and pediatric patients.
The dangerous flu has affected Venezuela for several months, where it was declared epidemic and caused dozens of deaths; also several cases were reported in Colombia, so the health authorities of Ecuador took precautions to prevent the virus to enter the country, and if it happens, as has happened before, they have prepared a health emergency to assist the infected.
