Online commerce generates $ 540 million a year in Ecuador

The fifth edition of the e-Commerce Day of the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce gathered hundreds of entrepreneurs who learned about the new trends in digital marketing, the construction of a brand and electronic payment platforms for online shops. These were some of the topics that ten exhibitors, among national and foreign, explained at the event.
Pablo Arosemena, president of the GCC, said that this way of doing business moves in Ecuador about $ 540 million a year and its growth rate is 35%. “If we contrast that with the 1.9% the Ecuadorian economy will grow throughout 2015, digital economy is much faster,” said Arosemena.

Nuno Acosta, creative director and manager of the digital creative agency Laika, a company dedicated to digital media advertising in social networks and the Internet, pointed out that the SME (small and medium enterprises) have an important participation in advertising contracting, because you can invest from $ 100 a month to promote your product on the networks, but he recognized that large enterprises are investing more on their digital sites.
John Trivedi, representative of Ecuahosting and Ecuaweb, companies dedicated to register domains for websites, explained that there has been a growth in the past five years of a 100% and this modality is expected to grow a 125% in 2015.
At the closure of the event, organizers gave awards to outstanding domestic enterprises in electronic commerce.
