The bill on the legal classification of the crime of hate and discrimination in social networks confronts the ruling party and the opposition.
The Legislative Council of Administration still does not qualify that proposal forwarded by former President Rafael Correa hours before leaving office.
The President of the Legislature José Serrano will request a scope of the text. Patricio Donoso (CREO-SUMA party) assured that the bill is unconstitutional because it intends to apply sanctions extraterritorially; And recalled that the crime of hate is already typified in the Integral Criminal Organic Code, and if someone is a victim, that person shall go to court.
Guillermo Celi, also a legislator of the CREO-SUMA party, said that the solution is that President Lenin Moreno rejects the proposal.
Moreno pointed out that under no circumstances the social networks bill be designed to limit freedom of expression.
