Orange alert declared to Reventador Volcano

The National Secretariat for Risk Management alerts citizens not to circulate areas near the volcanic area
The National Secretariat for Risk Management (SNGR) decided yesterday to change the yellow alert of the Reventador Volcano to orange .
The provinces are potentially affected Napo, Sucumbios, Orellana and probably Pichincha.
“The declaration of orange alert provides that provincial and cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) (chaired by Governors and Mayors) are kept on alert and ready for immediate action,” says the website of the Secretariat.
The Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School registered earthquakes and explosions, so the Secretariat recommends citizens not to circulate in the surrounding areas of the volcano.
