Otavaleño singer Jesús Fichamba died of covid-19

Jesús Fichamba , singer from Otavale , died this Monday, April 26, 2021 in Guayaquil . The information was confirmed by fellow artist Gustavo Pacheco.

Jesús Fichamba, an artist of Otavaleño origin, died from complications caused by covid-19.

Fichamba was hospitalized for complications because of the covid – 19 since the beginning of the month of April . He remained in critical condition and intubated.

The singer-songwriter from Otava, recognized for his participation in the 1985 OTI Festival, entered the Intensive Care Unit of the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital on April 14, 2021 to receive care for the SARS – CoV – 2 virus .

However, his health was declining and this April 26, 2021, Jesús Fichamba lost the battle against covid – 19 at 74 years of age.

The artist Gustavo Pacheco has been the spokesperson for the Fichamba situation and announced that the funeral arrangements for the singer from Peguche will be organized by his family and will discreetly inform about it. Fichamba’s

artistic career began almost 52 years ago . In 1983 he recorded his first album and during his career he has toured the United States and Europe . In 2015 he participated in a project in homage to Pope Francis . The singer was recognized internationally

by winning second place at the International OTI Festival with the theme La Niña, la Pinta and la Santa María.
