Pachakutik will process amnesty for Jimenez in the Assembly
The political party Pachakutik will submit an amnesty project for several people within fifteen days. Between these people appear the Assemblyman Cléver Jiménez, who received in recent days by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), precautionary measures on his behalf.
Lourdes Tibán, member of Pachakutik, said that the project is ready and its main objective is not just to ask for Jimenez´s amnesty, but also for Xavier Cajilema, Paul Jacome and Edwin Lasluisa, arrested by the events of September 30, 2010, and for nearly 40 people involved in this case.
Achieving the vote of two thirds, ie 92, the Assembly can grant pardons or amnesties.
“Respecting the pronouncement of Cléver Jiménez (on Twitter), he has not asked for amnesty or pardon, but we can manage it in the field of a political solidarity with him. We’re going to do it wittingly, despite we do not have enough votes in the National Assembly, “said Tibán.
Achieving the amnesty is the mission of Pachakutik, because this figure wipes away the crime, which is equivalent to forgive and forget, while a pardon only is forgiveness.
