Panama Canal expansion will be completed by the end of 2015
The group Unidos por el Canal (GUPC), led by Sacyr, and the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) have reached a final agreement to complete the works of the Canal expansion project in December 2015.
Through the agreement it is sought to fulfill the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed on March 13.
Specifically, both parties have agreed to sign the contract variation which will allow to co-finance the work of the third set of locks of the Panama Canal, as reported on Monday by the consortium in a statement to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
The consortium, composed by contractor companies Sacyr, Impregilo, Jan de Nul and Urban Construction, have stated they will make every possible effort so that the collaboration with the ACP be “fruitful” and the works conclude in the provided time.
