Ecuador calls for an end to the “slaughter” in Israel and announces opening of embassy
The Government of Ecuador requested on Monday through Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, to end the “slaughter” in the Gaza Strip, due to the Israeli offensive in the territory.
“Palestine live tragic moments: is the moral obligation of the world to end the slaughter in Gaza and to promote a lasting peace with justice,” wrote the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, in his Twitter account.
He also announced the opening of an embassy in Palestine. “Ecuador has decided to open an embassy in Palestine,” which will join “a diplomatic mission in Ramallah, the heart of Palestine”.
On July 17, the Government of Ecuador called its Ambassador in Israel for consultations before “the violence and deaths produced” in the Gaza Strip.
On that date, Patiño condemned the “Israeli military incursion into Palestinian territory” and demanded the “cessation of operations and indiscriminate attacks against civilians.”
