The snow makes its way between the only two Ecuadorian stations: the dry season and the wet season. This time it was the turn of the Pifo-Papallacta highway, at kilometer 20, in ‘La Virgen’ (The Virgin) sector. Drivers could not quickly move forward.
The ECU 911 reported a 6 centimeters snow layer. The images that circulated in social networks were of an entirely white landscape, cars that left marks on the road, parked on the highway and with the fog lights on.
The National Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology (Inamhi) said that it is a rare event in our country.
The machinery of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) removed the snow on the road, which was closed.
This route connects the Amazon with the province of Pichincha. The area is surrounded by the ecological corridor of Andean bears. (I)
