Comptroller Carlos Polit informed to Ecuavisa TV that there have been irregularities in the declarations of assets of several public officials. Among them, links with companies established in tax havens.
He confirmed the investigations have been carried out to former general manager of Petroecuador Alex Bravo; the current head of the state oil company, Pedro Merizalde, and former Minister of Hydrocarbons Carlos Pareja Yannuzelli.
“We have detected that former officials of Petroecuador and possibly those who are still on duty have omitted sensitive information in their asset declarations that can lead to difficult situations,” said Polit Wednesday.
He explained they are reviewing the information from public administrations in the past seven years.
