Pascual Del Cioppo´s company assumes bunker spillage in the Daule river

The legal representative of the Balsera Sudamericana company (Balsasud), Lewis Grant, informed the Municipality of Guayaquil, the spillage of approximately 30 gallons of bunker fuel in the waters of the Daule river. Hours earlier, the municipality, following the relevant environmental norms, had closed (Balsasud), after the Interagua company paralyzed the supply of drinking water to the entire city of Guayaquil as there was a stain fuel at the entrance of La Toma water treatment plant.
The company has admitted that the spill happened in the morning, it was produced after “the neglect of the operator who was in charge at that time.” In a bulletin issued last night, it ensures that the cannal had been cleaned up with “sawdust” and that material has been “duly collected.” The company also reports it will assume the necessary remediation and it will adequate the infrastructure facilities required so a similar accident does not happen again.
