Payment defaults with State contractors” says Enrique Pita

Posted On 14 Jan 2016

President of the Construction Chamber of Guayaquil, Enrique Pita, in an interview with Ecuavisa said that “public contractors are going through horrific troubles, not only by the fact they are not paid for their works, which have already been inaugurated and are being exploited by the government.

Pita cited, for example, the Unasur building in Quito; the sports fields of the Samanes Park in Guayaquil; educational institutions, and the Judicial Council.

“The government has not paid these contractors, but nevertheless the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Social Security Institute (IESS) require them, charge them fines and have threatened them with a series of actions as a result of these breaches,” he added.
