Peace process between Colombia and FARC is supported by international leaders
In support of the peace process that is negotiated between the Colombian government and the FARC in Cuba, a group of world leaders, participants of the Summit of the Third Way have signed a statement in support for the initiative in Cartagena.
The members of the reunion noted that “a final agreement would also mean peace to the entire American continent.”
Fernando Henrique Cardoso of Brazil; Ricardo Lagos of Chile; Felipe Gonzalez of Spain; Bill Clinton, of the United States and the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, considered that “nothing could be more important for Colombia than achieving peace.”
The statement congratulated the two parties, the government and the FARC, by the “seriousness” with which it has advanced the process and, above all by the commitment to achieve agreements that do not sacrifice the rights of victims.
