Pedro Delgado faces more accusations
On December 4, the Comptroller General’s Office initiated a special investigation to verify that Pedro Delgado met the requirements to fulfill the position of President of the Board of the Central Bank, Chairman of the Trust AGD-CFN No more impunity and of presidential advisor.
The announcement was made by Carlos Polit, after he was asked by the newspaper El Universo on what are the processes followed by the former civil servant, who resigned last December 19, after admitting he falsified his third degree title to obtain a fourth title degree in the Incae (Costa Rica)
Now Delgado is in Miami and could be forced to return to Ecuador, however, according to his lawyer, Juan Carlos Carmigniani, his client intends to seek asylum.
The focus of the process was initiated by the Comptroller to check the registered titles at the National Secretariat of Science and Technology (Senescyt) as a requirement for holding public office. The agency has only 30 days to issue a draft of the research and deliver the final results that should be carried out in the upcoming days. Pólit added that the Comptroller has taken at least five more special tests on more entities that Pedro Delgado managed or intervened.
