Penal Code in a new review stage

After two weeks the Organic Penal Integral Code (COIP for its Spanish acronym) remains in force, the Commission of Justice and State Structure of the Assembly already debates a new reform to the legal body.

This time, it was President Rafael Correa who introduced the bill, on July 14, and basically refers to the crimes on the violation of intellectual property rights.

It will also be the opportunity for that the minority ratify to the public opinion its claim that the debate around the COIP was not enough.

Besides the opposition will use the legislative “open padlock” to try to extend the discussion and correct what they see as errors of substance and form, that were not corrected during the prior debates to its approval
