People in the streets of Ecuador talk about a fraud in the elections
Posted On 20 Feb 2017
Hundreds of citizens nationwide denounce what in their opinion is an electoral fraud of the ruling party.
Social networks have served as a platform for disseminating photos, videos, comments and news of alleged irregularities that could cast doubt on the validity of the results in some polling stations.
Pamela Orna from her Twitter account @PamOV said: “They start distributing the ballot papers in # Esmeraldas before the election day and oh surprise, they already have results! #ElectoralFraud2017 @teleamazonasec @ecuavisa.”
Through videos, other citizens report that the ballot paper they received was already marked favoring the government´s party.
In Azuay, CREO sympathizers protest outside the CNE. Neither the metal fences nor the members of the Police prevented them from shouting their slogans. “We will stay here until we know the final result of the counts and to enforce the second round,” said Pablo Narvaez, one of the demonstrators.
For his part, the candidate for Vice-presidency of the Creo Suma alliance, Andres Paez, from his Twitter account @andrespaezec invited Ecuadorians who disagree with the policies of the regime to protest in the streets. “Let´s go to the CNE, ALL of us to defend our votes. The second round is a reality, thank you all for the support. #VigilCNE.”
