Peru seeks solution against ecuadorian standards
According to Peruvian exporters, sales fell down a 17.9% in January 2014 compared to the last year, due to the measures taken by the Ecuadorian Government in December 2013 to require a new certificate to ensure quality in imported products.
This measure would affect peruvian businessmen on 101 tariff lines, of which 42 belong to the chemical industry, 25 to the metallurgical sector, 18 related to agricultural and industrial products, 5 to the iron and steel, 1 to non-metallic mining and 1o to other sectors.
In this situation, foreign entrepreneurs are seeking for agreements and a strong participation by the state.
Despite this situation and claims of domestic entrepreneurs, the ecuadorian Industry Minister , Ramiro Gonzalez, has reiterated that it will not be a step back in the measures.
