Petroamazonas would have fired about 100 workers in December
About 100 workers were dismissed from the public company EP Petroamazonas in December, according to Remigio Sornoza, one of the affected and former President of the Federation of Oil Outsourced Workers.
Yesterday, Sornoza, backed by leaders of the UGTE and from the Popular Front, said that their labor rights had not been respected and asked for the reinstatement of all the dismissed.
He explained they would not have given them notifications and were notified of the dismissal by videoconferences or telephone calls. He also added that the indefinite contract of these workers who depended before on the management of Exploration and Production of EP Petroecuador would have not been respected.
Sornoza also indicated that the amounts of pre allowances that were announced would not exceed the $ 4,000, when, as said by Nelson Erazo, from the Popular Front, they should have receive at least seven salaries per year of work.
For Erazo, there is a contradiction between the discourse of the government that promotes job stability and the layoffs.
EP Petroamazonas said there is no plan for mass layoffs and people who have been detached from the company will be compensated according to the law.
