Petroecuador and Amerisur sign contract to transport crude from Colombia

The public company Petroecuador and Amerisur Exploración Colombia Limitada signed on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in Bogota a contract to transport Colombian crude through the Transecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE), informed union sources.
According to a Petroecuador statement, the crude will be transported “from Lago Agrio to the Balao Maritime Terminal.” SOTE, he added, “will transport 5,000 additional barrels of Colombian crude oil” per day.
Petroecuador indicated that the term of the contract will be 15 years counted from the date of subscription. In spite of the foregoing, it was specified that each of the parties may terminate the contractual relationship or extend the term established.
The document was signed by the general manager of Petroecuador, Pablo Flores, and the legal representatives of Amerisur Resources PLC and Amerisur Exploración Colombia Limitada, John Wardle and Fernando Rueda, respectively.
The SOTE, with a length of 497.7 kilometers, extends between Nueva Loja and Balao, and crosses the Ecuadorian provinces of Sucumbíos, Napo, Pichincha, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas and Esmeraldas.
The companies that signed the contract with Petroecuador are engaged in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, among other tasks and are currently in the stage of production and development of the Platanillo Field, in the Colombian department of Putumayo, bordering Ecuador. (I)
