As part of the works to be executed in the construction of the Pilatón-Toachi hydroelectric, the Pilatón River was diverted from its course.
The power plant will be fed by the waters of the rivers Toachi and Pilatón which go down towards Santo Domingo.
The diverting, which is considered crucial ‘to continue the execution of the Toachi-Pilatón hydroelectric’ according to officials, was made on Friday, May 2, And authorities were present, such as the Vice President of the Republic, Jorge Glas, the Coordinator Minister for Strategic Sectors, Rafael Poveda; and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Esteban Albornoz.
In addition, it is estimated the construction of two cascading centrals and a minicentral of 1.4 MW. At the present time, the hydroelectric has an advance of a 43% and is located in the provinces of Pichincha, Cotopaxi and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas.
