Piñera accepts to dialogue with teachers and students

After two days of strikes and riots in the major cities of Chile, President Sebastian Piñera agreed to talk with students and teachers who demand changes in private and state education.
Piñera said “After more than three months that we have seen the growth of violence and confrontations, the time for peace has come, time for union, a time for dialogue, for agreements,” and added that this dialogue should be with the government and Congress.
Due to these protests, a 16-year-old died yesterday early in the morning in a suburb of Santiago, were several riots, looting and clashes with police occurred. So far there is a total of 1,394 prisoners, 53 civilians and 153 policemen were injured. (BG)
