Police and Armed Forces face change from new projects
Both the police and the armed forces face changes through the new projects, the Ecuadorian president seek to reform administrative and operational issues of the two entities.
The Law Commission of International Relations assimilated observations for the second debate of the Code of Public Safety Entities that aims to create civic bodies to investigate violations and protect the authorities.
Ecuadorian President Correa said, in its latest radio link, that between 1300 and 1400 agents are assigned to the custody of authorities, but this does not mean that they are ready for that function and are not in public safety.
For this reason, the project Security Institutions Code seeks to create a body of custodian for senior government officials, something “that exists in many countries.”
The Public Protection Service (SPP) is a civilian security group that could be created if the proposal is approved. The personnel of this group carry out security tasks of public officials, which currently belong to the police and the military.
