Political opposition groups seek other ways to make popular consultation
Political groups opposed to the thought of the current Ecuadorian government are calling for political and citizen unity to finalize the signature collection that convenes a popular consultation.
Guillermo Lasso, CREO movement leader, who is part of the Compromiso Ecuador collective, said on Sunday November 2 that the signature collection “will start immediately.”
Luis Villacis, of the Unidad Popular group, agrees on the need to collect signatures, but refuses to join other organizations to consolidate it.
But for Alianza PAIS (AP) the great popular consultation will be in 2017. Through a press release, it warns it will comply the resolution of the Constitutional Court, ie resolving the amendments by the National Assembly. “The consultation of Lasso (…) is just a strategy of the elites to destabilize the government.”
