Political parties will benefit from CNE partisan funds

nubiaThe Permanent Partisan Fund assigned by the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym), will be awarded to the political movements: PAÍS, CREO, Avanza, Social Cristiano, Sociedad Patriótica and Socialista. The Electoral Counselor Nubia Villacis said that the list is preliminary.

The plenary of CNE will meet today to becomes acquainted of the reports of fund supporters 2013. After analyzing the destinations of these resources, they will proceed to the allocation of the amounts of 2014.

“It’s important to know the reports and then allocate the funds to those who are entitled because last year we sent to the Comptrollership a political organization that had used the funds to pay some surgical interventions and animal food,” said yesterday Villacis in the results presentation of the last local elections in the auditorium of the Electoral Delegation of Guayas.

According to the Article 355 of the Code of Democracy, political organizations that comply with the following requirements shall be entitled to public financing: 4% of the valid votes in two consecutive multi-person elections at national level; or at least 3 representatives in the National Assembly; or 8% of Mayoralties; or at least one Councilor in each of at least 10% of the country’s cantons.

The CNE will allocate about $ 9.4 million dollars to the fund. Of them, 15% (1.4 million) will go to the Institute of Democracy and the remaining 8 million will be distributed among organizations.
