Poly Ugarte Foundation collects signatures in Guayaquil on World Day Aagainst Breast Cancer
Coinciding with the World Day Against Breast Cancer, this morning Poly Ugarte Foundation lead the collection of signatures in favor of the draft Law on Prevention of Breast Cancer to be presented for the second time, to the Ecuadorian National Assembly .
This project, launched on March 8 by Poly Ugarte Foundation, requires: prevention of breast cancer as a public policy, expansion of health coverage for women without Social Security or Human Development Grant and breast reconstruction.
However, on September 4th, the Health Committee of the Assembly requested to file the project. In response, the Foundation initiated a process of collecting 28,000 signatures nationwide to ask none filed of the order.

According Blanca Ugarte Guzman, president of this Foundation, in Ecuador there are more than 3,000 women with breast cancer detected and ensures that from 36,000 women served by her Foundation in different provinces of the country, only 6000 have received Social Security or bond.
That’s why this statement aims to find a public policy, based on that 69% of women who manage to escape, it’s because they were able to detect the disease early. That’s why it is necessary to involve the Health and Education ministries; however they cannot achieve the expected support from the Assembly of the Committee on Health.
