Pope Arrived To Germany in the Midst of Demonstrations
During his flight from Rome, the Pope Benedicto XVI expressed his understanding to the demonstrations about his arrival. The Pope landed this morning in Berlin and was received by the federal president Christian Wulff and the councilor Angela Merkel.
The Pope regretted the lack of religious support from its countrymen because of the recent scandals about the abuse of minors from Catholic institutions. This has damaged the image of the Church, however the Pope expects 70,000 people to attend the mass that he will give in the Olympic Stadium of the capital.
Several secularists groups as well as associations that critic Catholicism along with homosexual groups gathered in a large demonstration against the visit of Pope Benedicto XVI and the speech he will give in the Bundestag, the national parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany. (AV)
