Pope Benedict XVI led the prayer to thousands of people on Sunday and thanked all his fans for their support during his junior Angelus as Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church.

“Today we contemplate Christ in the desert, fasting, praying and being tempted,” the pope told the crowd that gathered in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican.

“During these moments of our lives, and indeed at all times, we are faced with a dilemma: Do we want to follow me or God? Does the individual interest or the real good?”

The pope also tweeted a message to his fans around the world, asking them “rediscover their faith in God.”
