Pope Francis asked the people to feel ashamed by the scandals of the Church
During his homily at the traditional morning Mass, this Thursday, Pope Francis said we all should be embarrassed by the hundreds of scandals that have occurred within the Church.
According to excerpts of the homily, published by the Vatican Radio, the Argentine Pope denounced the recent scandals in the Church.
“But, are we ashamed? So many scandals that I did not want to mention singularly, but we all know what… Scandals, in which some have had to pay dearly: And that’s fine as well… It should be the shame of the Church!” he exclaimed. “But, have we feel embarrassed for these scandals, these defeats of priests, bishops and catholic layman?
The pontiff said that those responsible “did not have a relationship with God. Had a position in the Church, a position of power, and comfort, but not the word of God.”
