Pope Francis decided to break tradition and don’t take vacations
The mayor of Castel Gandolfo, Milvia Monachesi, recognized that for this locality it is a serious problem that Pope Francis had decided not to vacation there this year, as it directly affects the economy through the lack of tourism.
“It has affected especially the activity of the historic downtown, in particular, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops,” told the Mayor to Efe.
Monachesi recalled that is has been 400 years since the town of 9000 inhabitants, welcomes pontiffs. “It’s an old tradition,” she says.
Argentine Pope, of 76 years old, has dropped out of the tradition and decided to stay the entire summer working in the Vatican. During this month the Pope has taken measures regarding reforms on the economy and the Vatican’s finances, very questionable, especially for the role of the bank, the Institute for Religious Works (IOR).
