Pope Francisco goes out at night in secret to help poor

The Huffington Post reported that a Vatican source confirmed that occasionally, the Argentine Pope dresses like a priest to go incognito around the Italian capital to give alms to the poor.

This news was announced after the Polish archbishop Konrad Krajewski called as the “alms Vatican” for who designates part of the wealth of the Holy See to the needy, said: “When I say ‘ I will go out to town tonight” there is a constant risk that he comes with me.” He was then asked if he had ever happened and the archbishop just smiled, raising uncertainty.

A reliable source from Rome told the American media that “the Swiss Guard confirmed that [the Pope] has ventured out at night dressed as a regular priest to meet with homeless men and women.”

The Huffington Post stressed that Bergoglio during his time as Archbishop of Buenos Aires, did the same to meet the needy.

If this version is confirmed, it would not be the first time it happens, due to in John XXIII’s time, he used to do the same, sneaking out to enjoy Rome at night, also as Pope Pius XII, when in the time of World War II he dressed as a Franciscan to help Italian Jews refugees.
