Pope Francisco: “We can be sinners, but not corrupt”
On Monday, during his homily at the traditional morning Mass at the Casa Santa Marta, pope Francisco said that who donates to the Church and steals from the State is a fake Christian because he leads a double life. Argentine Pope said we may be “sinners” because we all are, “but not corrupt.”
Jorge Bergoglio quoted who said they are “benefactors of the Church, they scratches their pockets and gives to the Church, but with the other hand steals the State; the poor people.”
“This is an injustice. This is leaving a double life, because this person cheats. This is the difference between the sinner and the corrupt; and who has a double life is corrupt,” he said.
“We all know someone who is in this situation and how bad it is for the Church. Corrupt Christians, corrupt priests … How bad this is for the Church. Because they do not live in the spirit of the gospel, but of worldliness,” he added.
