Pope Performs Palm Sunday Mass in Holy Week

Pope Benedict XVI presided this Sunday morning the procession and the Palm Mass in Saint Peter Square in the presence of thousands of followers to celebrate the beginning of the Holy Week. For the third time the Pope crossed the agglomeration of people in it’s Pope-mobile in order reach the obelisk in the center of the square.
Benedict XVI will turn 85 years on April 16, he recently returned from Mexico and Cuba after performing several visit to the Latin American countries.
The Palm festivity is a Christian tradition to start the Holy Week; the Pope blessed the palms of the crowd, mostly were youths since the Sunday Palm coincides with the “World Youth Day” which is celebrated by Catholics around the world. (AV)
