Pope said the press has a message of truth, beauty and goodness
During a meeting yesterday with the international media, Pope Francisco thanked them for the great work done since the resignation of Benedict XVI and recognized that it is not easy to inform about the Church to an audience so vast and varied in this global era. Speaking to reporters he said: “You have been working hard these days.”
Francisco invited reporters to “always try to understand the true nature of the Church, and even its journey around the world, with their virtues and sins” and noted that both the Church and the media have to work to bring a message of “truth, beauty and goodness.”
Ecuadorian journalist Tania Tinoco, who was at this meeting, felt moved when Bergoglio said, ‘what the Church has in common with journalists is that we do this work with goodness, truth and beauty’, to which the journalist said: “It could not be better described this job, so often misunderstood, especially in recent times.”
Near the end of the meeting, Francisco spoke in Spanish and gave the blessing to the journalists. The Pope explained that he knew and understood that there were many non-Catholics. “We also bless them,” and also said: “I know they are all God’s children.”
