Pope will visit Rome’s prison and will perform the feet washing
On March 28, Pope Francis will held a mass to honor the Holy Thursday, at 17h30 (local time) at the criminal Institute of Casal of Marmo, where youth of both sex are imprisoned.
During the ceremony, Francis will wash the feet of some of the inmates to continue a tradition that he performed when he was still Archbishop of Buenos Aires.
The statement released by the Vatican spokesman clarifies that the other acts which are carried out in Holy week will develop normally.
The Supreme Pontiff continues breaking schemes and surprising the faithful catholics with this decision, because so far only two masses were held on Holy Thursday: in the morning the chrism mass at the basilica of San Pedro, and in the evening the mass of the Lord’s Supper at the Basilica of St. John of Letran.
