Poroshenko: Russian military forces are invading the province of Donetsk
The Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko, yesterday denounced the invasion of Russian forces in the province of Donetsk.
“I’ve decided to suspend my visit to Turkey because the situation has abruptly worsened at the Donetsk province, particularly in the city of Novoazovsk due to the incursion of Russian troops in Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.
Poroshenko also mentioned he will ask an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council of the United Nations so the world “strongly condemns the severe worsening of events in Ukraine.”
In response, Russia denied Poroshenko’s accusations, dismissing “any interest” in an invasion in eastern Ukraine, through Moscow’s representative at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Andrei Kelin.
Meanwhile, Aleksandr Zajarchenko, the Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk, said that Kiev wants to justify its defeat in the battlefield inventing a Russian aggression.
