Ports of Ecuador mobilized 1.7 million containers
According to data released yesterday by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the movement of containerized cargo in ports of Latin America and the Caribbean grew 1.3% during 2014.
Ecuador is among the three highest ranked countries in 2014 by 7.9%, along with Colombia (7.0%), and Peru (8.7%). As for containerized cargo movement, the port of Guayaquil ranked first (1’621.381 TEU), followed by Esmeraldas (101,540), Puerto Bolivar (49,080) and Manta (532).
ECLAC published a ranking compiled from information provided by the terminal or port authorities of the countries of Latin America. The port of Guayaquil ranks eighth in cargo movement, the Esmeraldas port 61th, Puerto Bolivar 73th and Manta 114th.
