Positive leadership offers new army chief
“I assume, with the integrity and professionalism that characterizes the honor of soldiers, and I hope to live up to the trust put in me by the President, mostly regarding the women and men of our army who deserve my command to be carried out with absolutely positive leadership,” said Gen. Jorge Pena Cobena, thanking for his appointment as the new head of the Land Forces.
For its part, the defense minister, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, responsible for presenting the replacement of Gen. Marco Vera, who resigned unexpectedly and asked availability, said his portfolio “meets the regulations governing the military career” of all members of the Armed Forces at all levels.
The Secretary of State criticized the press for having speculated on the appointment of the new commander. She denied that the resignation of the former chief was produced for a promotion of three colonels that was denied by the General Council.
