Pregnant women of fp to 3 months should be cautious about zika
Cecibel Rodriguez, 37, says she is worried since last week she heard the news that a woman of the Trinitaria Island was the first case of zika in Guayaquil. She is 5 months pregnant and her fear increased when knowing the risk that a baby may be born with microcephaly when the mother is infected with the virus transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which also causes dengue and chikungunya.
On November 28th, 2015 the Ministry of Health of Brazil gave the warning by establishing the relationship between the increase of microcephaly in the northeast of the country and the zika infection: 739 cases nationwide, five times more than the usual statistics. While US authorities warned that pregnant women should avoid traveling to Latin America and the Caribbean.
